What Notion AI is

Notion AI is an AI layer that sits inside the Notion workspace. It can summarise a page, draft from a prompt, edit selected text, and answer questions about the contents of the workspace itself. As of 2026 it also includes Notion Agents and Notion Workers for Agents (in developer preview), which let you give a long-running task to a background process that operates inside the workspace.

Where Notion AI wins

When the work happens inside Notion. Drafting a file note from rough bullets while inside the matter page. Summarising a long internal memo. Asking "what is the status of the Smith matter" and getting an answer drawn from the matter page itself.

The 2026 Agents are early but interesting. A research agent that reads a new judgment and updates the relevant Issue page in your research database. An intake agent that triages a new enquiry against the conflicts spine. These will become real workflows over the next year.

Where Notion AI does not win

Anything outside Notion. Long document review on PDFs you have not imported. Heavy reasoning. Use Claude or Gemini for that and bring the output back into Notion.
